November Waffle Party (I Survived NaNoWriMo + Is It Too Early For Christmas Music? + Getting Excited For 2017)

Can anyone else NOT BELIEVE AT ALL IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM that November is over?? BECAUSE I AM SERIOUSLY CONFUSED. This month went by very quickly even though it was slightly grueling (being my first NaNoWriMo which we shall discuss in a few minutes muahaha.) This also happens to be the busiest time of year for my family’s business so I HAVE BASICALLY NO IDEA HOW I’VE FOUND TIME TO BLOG but hello here I am with waffles and happiness. Because y’all never fail me so how can I fail you??? I CANNOT SIR. I WON’T. Let’s get this party started.

JacyRayn and Aaliyah both hit it out of the park on Burning Youth this month. The former gave me a confidence boost and the latter totally inspired me for my novel. ;)

Speaking of Burning Youth, I kind of did a podcast ALL BY MY LONESOME. Katie was out of town and I had to fumble my way through the podcast all by myself so if you’d like to listen to ten minutes of awkwardom, GO FOR IT BRO.

Olivia broke my heart again with her raw and real and beautiful words. :’’’)

Aimee was kind enough to have me guest post on her blog!! I got to blab all about creativity so obviously it was super fun and you should GO FOLLOW AIMEE NOWWWW.

I’d also like to quietly flail because I was kind of published in a fabulous indie magazine??? Comeback Mag contacted me a little while ago and asked me to write an article for them (kind of based off the message of my Mission Statement) and it was kind of FREAKING AWESOME to get a copy of this magazine in the mail yesterday!! Comeback is a really great project and initiative and you should definitely check them out. Here’s a sneak peak of my little contribution. (If you'd like to read the whole thing, grab a copy on Comeback's digital store or shoot them an email and say that I sent you and they will give you a free copy!)

I’m having a hard time believing CHRISTMAS IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER?? All the stores are already playing Christmas music and selling decorations. (Obviously I don’t mind this because Christmas is my favorite holiday) BUT GIFTS OMG. WHAT DO PEOPLE WANT?? Not everyone is as easy to please* as I am.

Oh and speaking of Christmas, I CAN’T GET OVER HOW MANY COOKIES PINTEREST TORTURES ME WITH. Like…how am I supposed to cope with this?? Also I have to make Christmas cookies for my town’s annual tree-lighting party (yes I live in a VERY SMALL town with zero stoplights lol) so I’m begging your help on this decision. What kind should I make?? Go cast your vote on Twitter or in the comments below. I demand it. BECAUSE COOKIES ARE VERY IMPORTANT OBVIOUSLY.

And on a completely unrelated note, I MAY OR MAY NOT BE STILL FLAILING OVER THE SEASON FINALE OF POLDARK. Please please please tell me I'm not the only one obsessed with watching this show??? COME OUT FROM THE (POL)DARK AND LET'S FANGIRL TOGETHER. (See what I did there??) Oh and if you're not watching Poldark then you are seriously missing out on something amazing (otherwise known as Aiden Turner's glorious face.)

*This means that I would be happy with a $500 gift card for Kindle but y’know… ;)

I SURVIVED NANOWRIMO. This doesn’t mean my book is complete (almost tho!) but I REACHED 50,000 WORDS MUAHAHA. And I’m honestly soooo happy.

I’ve never written anything as a challenge for word count in a short period of time so I’m happy to succeed, even if the book isn’t quite as long as some of my other books.*

Am I going to jump straight into editing this book once it’s finished? NO SIR. As a rule, I like to let my first drafts sit for a few months before I pick them up and do a proof read and an initial edit. BECAUSE AFTER A FEW MONTHS I HAVE BASICALLY FORGOTTEN THE WHOLE STORY. So when this little novel is finished (it really is small) I’ll shelve it and BRB STRESS OVER THE HOLIDAYS.

When I do finish writing the book, would y’all like a post of snippets/confetti/me flailing?? BECAUSE I REALLY LIKE IT WHEN YOU FLAIL WITH ME OVER THESE THINGS. :’)

*WHO AM I KIDDING it’s tiny. It is the tiniest book I have ever written. But I kind of like it that way?? This is another blog post for another time, though. SOOOON.

I seriously wish I had more exciting news on the music front. But to be honest, LOOK FORWARD TO 2017 BECAUSE THAT’S WHEN ALL THE COOL STUFF WILL BE HAPPENING. I am still learning guitar. I am still plotting to record some covers. I AM REALLY THINKING THAT THE FIRST ONE WILL BE RELEASED IN JANUARY. And now I have nothing left to say.

I thought long and hard about a playlist before I posted today. IT’S TECHNICALLY STILL NOVEMBER. DO I GIVE THEM CHRISTMAS MUSIC?? Of course I do. Because when the next Waffle Party™ arrives, CHRISTMAS WILL BE OVER WAAH. Thus I give you a smol playlist of my favorite Christmas songs. Because you deserve a bit of my fabulous music taste in your life.

Have you conquered NaNoWriMo 2016? Are you PUMPED FOR CHRISTMAS?? Would you be happy with $500 worth of glorious books? What is your favorite kind of Christmas cookies? Have you seen any snow yet? Do you watch/fangirl over Poldark too?? PLZ SAY YES PLZ SAY YES. TELL ME ABOUT Y’ALL’S LIVES OK.

love,
abbiee

That's so awesome that you were in a magazine! Ah, I haven't heard of Poldark yet. I looked it up and I found out it has one of the dwarves from The Hobbit, so that's interesting. :') It's definitely on my radar now—British dramas are so fun. I'm still getting over Downton Abbey...

  8. I would love to see snippets + posts about your novel! I always love learning about others' WIPs :) I wasn't able to do NaNo this year, but I still plodded along with my 400-700 words-a-day on my steampunk vs. fairyland novella. During English today (oops), I outlined a few of the chapters that have been giving me problems, and I think it's getting pretty close to done!

IT IS NEVER A BAD TIME FOR CHRISTMAS. CHRISTMAS ALWAYS. And Bing Crosby's holiday music is so very lovely, isn't it? <3

We actually just had our first snow today! None of it stuck, but it still came down pretty vigorously.

  10. I can't quite believe that it's almost December either! Like, I started thinking today that Christmas is in like less than a month. HOW??? But alas, I live in the South and it is still kinda not cold. But it got to the fifties today, so that's a win!

I LOVE CHRISTMAS MUSIC!!! And it's after Thanksgiving, so you won't get the backlash from the Christmas-must-be-after-Thanksgiving peeps, although fighting about that doesn't seem very thankful or joyful for either holiday...

Also, I had a crazy month too. In the words of Ben Rector, "crazy normal." But still quite busy with regrettably little writing. I did write a short story though (for school). And three research papers (for school). Lots of school.

SCHOOL IS OVER IN LESS THAN A WEEK.

    Blogging here I come.

Thanks for you lovely space, Abbie! You inspire me every time I come here!

Oooh short stories are so much fun!! 11. I still haven't undertaken NaNoWriMo. I don't know if I ever could since I have troubles with my hands hurting, and I really don't want to bust them for life while I'm still young. It really stinks. Congratulations on your accomplishment of it!
I've gotten most of my Christmas shopping done, but I know what you mean...some people are so hard to shop for. I think I am excited for Christmas. It's a pretty marvelous time of the year. Just goes by too quickly, you know?
No snow yet for me. It's in the forecast for this weekend/beginning of next week; so I'm hoping again, but the last few times my hopes have been crushed. Snow makes everything better ;) That's what I believe, anyway, and I'm sticking to it.

You've made me curious about Poldark...I'm on my way to investigate.

    2. Aw, sorry to hear that your hands bother you! That's lousy. But yes NANO WAS QUITE THE CHALLENGE LOL *nervous laughter* CHRISTMAS REALLY DOES GO BY TOO QUICKLY. :( And I envy your shopping being all done! EEP I WISH I COULD SAY THE SAME. But I am planning on making a lot of gifts this year so I better get to work on that. AHEM. Snow is definitely beautiful! Although today I had to practically break my back shoveling. -_- But it's still pretty and very Christmas-y. EEEP OMG SO HAPPY YOU WATCHED POLDARK!! *gives you extra waffles with chocolate syrup because you're fabulous* The first four episodes are ABSOLUTE GOLD. I hope you enjoy it!! <3 Thank you for reading, dear!

  12. YO CONGRATS ON WINNING NANO. THAT IS SO SO AWESOME. *hands you waffles and chocolate*
I basically failed at Nano? xD BUT I'm okay with that because I kind of knew before I even said that I would "try" to do it that I probably wouldn't because LIFE SHOWED UP THIS MONTH. So I'm honestly okay with that, but I AM GOING TO FINISH MY NOVEL. And I'm kind of hoping before the New Year but I'm definitely going to have to writewritewritewrite for that. I think that it would be nice to start editing it like in February next year or something.

*FLAILS* CONGRATS ON GETTING PUBLISHED IN A MAGAZINE!! That is honestly the most awesome thing ever. (haha, and when you called it an indie magazine I knew exactly what you meant ;) Props to your last post XD) That is such a big accomplishment and I am so happy for ya.
