The Wisteria Writer Tag (Because Y'all Want To Hear About My #WritersLife)

HELLO MY FRENS. Very recently, I was nominated by Megan for the Wisteria Writer Tag. Megan is awesome, Wisteria is awesome, and writing is awesome sooo WHAT’S NOT TO LOVE ABOUT THIS TAG?? Let’s get started. (Because I know how much you all want to hear about my #writinglife. There are some things that are too great to post on Twitter. << shameless plug: go follow me ok i am dark humor with a side of fairy dust MUAHAHHAA.)

RULES:
01. Thank the blogger who nominated you
02. Answer the ten questions
03. Write ten questions of your own
04. Nominate ten other people for the tag!

01. ARE YOU WRITING ANYTHING AT THE MOMENT? IF SO, WHAT?

SADLY NO HAHA. I have about a dozen (I am so serious) book ideas floating around in my head, but I am willfully forcing myself not to start another project until I finish editing this novel I just finished writing. (And as we all know, editing can be a bit of a chore.)

02. WHAT GENRE OF WRITING DO YOU LIKE BEST?

Mystery/thriller although I have never written an actual novel of this genre (just fanfic ahem.) I JUST CAN’T GET MY HEAD OUT OF CONTEMPORARY. WHY??? The real world is my vice. :’) But I’m beginning to dabble in fantasy and science fiction and *gassssp* HISTORICAL FICTION. (#PrayForAbbie2k16)

03. WHEN DID YOU START WRITING?

I started writing when I was super little. Like “Katie, how do you spell ‘wood?’” kind of little. My sister and I would get up every morning and sit at our dining room table and drink tea and write stories on unlined copy paper with gel pens. FOR HOURS. We would sit there for half the day sometimes and write, write, write. Obviously I fell in love with it. Because honestly what could be more refreshing than plaguing yourself with other people's emotional baggaGE AND FEELS??

04. DO YOU PREFER WRITING ON PEN AND PAPER OR DIGITALLY?

OH MAN I HAVEN’T WRITTEN ON PAPER SINCE I WAS THE AFOREMENTIONED 6-YEAR-OLD. Actually no, that’s a lie – I have written chapters of my books in notebooks. But writing on paper just never clicked with me. IF I DON’T HAVE A BACKSPACE BUTTON WE WILL ALL PERISH. Because let’s face it: most of what I write is complete rubbish and needs to be immediately sent to the trash with no supper.

05. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT WRITING?

Getting a new book idea and then walking around the house in a daze with a stupid in-love smile on your face making your family think omg she met a boy or something but no omg I did not meet a boy omg I met this amazing book idea want to hear ALL ABOUT IT????

06. WHAT IS YOUR LEAST FAVORITE THING ABOUT WRITING?

LOLOL TOO MANY THINGS. When I can’t write. When I can write but it comes out dry and horrible. When I edit a scene to death and it still doesn’t sound good. When my characters are sassy little rebels and fight with each other and don’t do what I tell them. (Okay so that last one isn’t something I hate. Like I actually love it. BRING ON THE SASS, MY DARLING UNICORNS.)

07. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO WRITE? (NOVELS, POETRY, SHORT STORIES, ETC.)

Novels. Although I’ve written short stories as well. (14 of them to be exact.) ALSO FUN FACT: I might be publishing a short story on Wattpad very soon??? *NERVOUS LAUGHTER* Stay tuned, y’all. People tell me I’m good at poetry but idk. POETRY HAS NO RULES, RIGHT?? Like art. *coughs louder* Sorry this deserves another post for another time. Stay tuned while you’re staying tuned for the other thing.

08. WHEN DO YOU WRITE BEST?

Believe it or not, I write best at four o’clock in the morning. Some of my most brilliant fiction has come to life when it’s still dark out and the rest of the world is asleep. *distant malicious laughter* ALSO ALSO there’s just something so magical about getting up before the dawn, listening to the birds wake up, watching the light brighten like it has a cosmic fading switch. AND HAVE I MENTIONED HOW QUIET IT IS?? OMG ZERO INTERRUPTIONS. It’s blissful.

09. WHERE DO YOU LIKE TO WRITE?

I’ve written in many different places in my house, in other people’s houses, and in the country, but I never feel at home writing until I am sitting in my chair at the dining room table. (Because everyone has a designated chair at their dining room table, AM I RIGHT?) This must inspire me because FOOD, OBVIOUSLY. Writing and eating are interchangeable and equally beautiful activities.

10. WHAT (OR WHO) INSPIRES YOU THE MOST WHEN WRITING?

UM CAN I MAKE A LIST?? I’M GOING TO.

- My sister. YES SHE IS AT THE TOP because without her I would literally not be a writer. Like every good little sister, I copied everything Katie did when I was growing up (lol still growing up) because it was obviously cool. Although I will never be as good of a writer as this supernova girl, I can aspire. :’)

- My parents. Because they let me write all those morning and encouraged it and told me that I could be a published author one day. They have supported me every step of the way with every art I choose to work with and I love them for it. <3

- Other writers on the blogosphere. Because nothing makes me want to crank out 20,000 words in one day or write a whole freaking novel in one month than the fabulous bloggers I follow. Y’ALL ARE SUPERHEROS THAT I LOOK UP TO AND WOULD HAVE POSTERS OF YOU ON MY WALLS IF THAT WASN’T CREEPY.

- PINTEREST OBVS. Like…what would I do without my books’ visual storyboards on Pinterest?? WHAT WOULD THE WORLD DO WITHOUT PINTEREST THAT’S WHAT I WANNA KNOW, SIR. Pinterest is the glue that holds us all together. I am lost without it. (And I promise they don’t sponsor me or something I’m just saying this because I genuinely don’t know who/what I would be without Pinterest but it would also be cool if they sponsored me because you know they could not bestow their kindness on a more grateful subject.)

- Wafflesssssss. Because you can’t live without them* seriously it’s a scientific fact. Google it if you doubt me, doubter.
* food. but y’know. same thing.

I THEREFORE TAG:

MY QUESTIONS:

01. What is your earliest memory of writing?
02. Girl’s POV or guy’s POV?
03. What is your best motivation to write?
04. Most words you’ve ever written in a day?
05. Tea or coffee? (While writing…you know. The question is relevant.)
06. Out of everything you’ve written, which book is your favorite?
07. Who is your favorite character and why?
08. Writing method: slow and steady or LIGHTNING! BOLTS! OF! INSPIRATION!
09. If you had to burn one of your books, which one would you choose?
10. Worst spelling fail and best spelling victory?

How long have you been writing? Do waffles inspire you?? If not, I have failed as a blogger. Do you use Pinterest to make visual storyboards? If not, omg why??? Are you a get-up-early-to-write person or a stay-up-late-to-write person? Are you excited to read my short story?? EEEEP. Stalk me on Wattpad because it’s coming SOON.

love,
abbiee

  2. "Because honestly what could be more refreshing than plaguing yourself with other people's emotional baggaGE AND FEELS??" YEP THAT'S IT THAT'S WHY WE WRITE WE CAN ALL GO HOME NOW.

I WANT TO READ YOUR SHORT STORIES!!!!!!!!!! I want to read everything you write tbh. HIT ME WITH YOUR AMAZINGNESS.

XD I still wish I could get up at 4 a.m. to write but honestly I would just be like "um. the cat walked across da room." And at that time of the day I would probably think it was literary genius.

    No mornings for me.

*dramatically spoons vegetables on plate* THAT GIF KILLED ME AHHH X'D

Let's be real, Katie is EVERYONE'S writing inspiration.

Some of them are a little...hmm how do I put it... *cough* RIDICULOUS?? idk my head can get pretty crazy sometimes. AND PSHH YOU DON'T WANT TO READ MY STUFF AS MUCH AS I WANT TO READ YOUR AMAZING SOUNDING NOVEL SO THERE IS THAT. ;)

"um. the cat walked across da room" << tbh this might actually be me at 4AM. XDD I HONESTLY DON'T KNOW. It's like...sometimes it comes out bad?? but mostly it's good. idk. I think it's accidental genius because I certainly don't FEEL like I'm thinking about what i'm writing. (wow that was a terribly worded sentence do forgive. xD) AHHAHAA RIGHT THAT GIF SLAYS SO MUCH. *wipes tears* Katie honestly is everyone's writing inspiration. :') Like...for real. EEEEP I CAN'T WAIT TO READ YOUR TAG GRACE ANNE!! *hugs and waffles*

  3. Hahahaha you are so funny Abbie. XD

I have been writing for like 6 years ish. Not including the beginnings of my storytelling which was games of dolls or legos with my sister. We made up some epic games.

I want waffles. Can you come over and make me some waffles?

I do not use Pinterest anymore. I used to, but then I was like... this is sucking up my time and also I keep seeing things on here that I want desperately to unsee. So now if I find an inspiring picture somewhere, I just save it on my computer (I have folders for each of my stories), and go from there. What I really want is a real, physical inspiration board. But I would need a color printer first.

At this point, I am a neither-writer. I basically never write. :-O Which is horrendous. I WANT to write. I have just been busy and sick so when I'm not busy I'm sleeping and trying to recover strength. It's not fun.

I AM SO EXCITED TO READ YOUR SHORT STORY AGHHH.

OOOH yes I real physical inspiration board would be EPIC. I recently got some character/book inspiration prints from Snapfish and I love them so much. <3 It's definitely a whole different vibe to have a physical pin board. :D Aww I'm so sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling well! Prayers and much love, my bro. <33333333333

  4. I used to hand write all my stories, but I just can't do that anymore. Typing is so much faster, and the backspace key is pretty much the best invention ever.
I like writing short stories, too, but there's something special about attempting to write a novel. Long, involved stories are the hardest to do, but also some of the most fun.

  9. BUT YOU DIDN'T TAG ME AND LOOK AT MY FACE. I AM ALL THE SAD ABBIE. AFTER ALL THE WAFFLES I'VE GIVEN YOU TOO. *sobbing*
    Ahem.
Also heck yes everyone in our house has a designated table chair. Like we ain't playing musical chairs and messing about when there's food on the line. *nods emphatically* Also the kitchen is very inspiring buuuut I prefer to write in my room on my bed where one can also catch a quick nap if needed. And OMG YES TO THE MORNINGS!!!! FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE WHO LOVES MORNINGS TOO!!! I looooove early mornings when no one is around and also late late nights for the same reason. Like basically when I'm writing I want to live from like 9pm to 6am or something. I don't. But when I'm a mega-famous author and I DO NOT HAVE TO LIVE BY RULES...I'm totally going to do that. #goals

And aww, aren't sisters so inspiring?!? I love how you were writing stories as a 6yo. SO CUTE. My sister and me were the same...but opposite, in that she is younger and was writing American Girl books (hopefully you know what they are right?!😂) And I was 12 and like "hey she can't have this much attention I must write too" and ergo here I am. An author today. Purely because I was jealous of my little sister getting attention for her stapled-together-self-illustrated-books.😂😂 I HAVE SUCH GLORIOUS ORIGINS.

(Btw, what is it about your blog that makes me come and leave these massive long comments omg. I blame you and I don't even know why.)

YOUR GIF PERFECTION IS PERFECT. <3 JUST SAYIN'.

Omg Historical fiction? I shall pray. That stuff is hard haaaaard. I would like to steal your contemporary tendencies though.😂 I need to write less fantasy and more contemporary atm, BUT YEAH MY BRAIN ISN'T HAPPY WITH THAT IDEA.

Anyway. I shall now go eat waffles (((ALONE))) and consider stealing this tag anyway because #evilauthor 😉

AHAHAHA BRO YOUR ORIGINS ARE GLORIOUS OMG. That's seriously so great. *i mean tbh it's currently because I met a boy but I hate discussing feelings so I'll just say story idea because that is also true. I am such a Pinterest-vision-board person, but all my boards are private because 1) they're unorganized 2) they have a lot of stabby gifs because I'm working on a thriller and a dystopian so...you know. 14. Oooohh I cannot wait to read your story!! :D :D Also I believe I already stalk you (i stalk everyone it's a problem).
I've been writing since I was a very teeny tiny child. I recall writing a story about a king and queen and their children and I think someone died. Or all of them died. My stories follow a pattern :P
Also YASSS PINTEREST. I thrive on Pinterest. It's so BEAUTIFUL and PRETTY and INSPIRING and ADDICTING. I get on Pinterest and then three hours later I blink at the sunlight and wonder what year it is.
I get more ideas late at night, but my quality tends to be poorer than when I wake up early. I'm someone who's cursed with the inability to get to sleep quickly so I tend to be up late, staring creepily out my window and watching cars go by :P So it's hard for me to get up early... I need to work on that.

Ugh it really can be hard to get up early. I honestly don't know how I do it?? Like I never set an alarm clock...I just tell myself that "i will wake up at 4am...i will wake up at 4am....i will wake up at 4am..." HISTORICAL FICTION SOUNDS AMAZING I HAVE ALREADY PREORDERED IT SO YOU'D BETTER WRITE IT OKAY OKAY COOL *CONFETTI*

The backspace button is a vital need in life. It just is.

Oh good I'm not the only one who's parents think they're in love or something when really they just have an idea for a novel. I swear I have disappointed them quite a few times, sigh.

Of course everyone has a designated chair at the dining room table. Wouldn't the world implode otherwise?

I have no idea what the world would do without Pinterest. Or waffles. (Fun fact: I had waffles for breakfast every day this week because obviously they are vital for survival when it comes to school I SWEAR I'M HEALTHY MOST OF THE TIME)

Hmmmmmmm Can I do this tag even though I wasn't tagged? I'm gonna do this tag even though I wasn't tagged. Like, I'm going to go do it right now so bye.

  17. WHAT YOU WRITE HISTORICAL FICTION okay okay this is exciting because that's super daring and brave. So much research has to be implemented, and when you're doing something like NaNoWriMo, you just have to have everything prepped up and ready since there's no time to search up the specific date the Battle of Waterloo occurred. O-O

You like writing during the super early morning? I should try that some time, but I actually have a school to go to and that just doesn't work, ugh. Writing with no distractions is so therapeutic and is just the best way to not be caught by your family asking why you're crying. I just recently got into using Pinterest for my novel, and as much as I'd love to draw out my scenes, I cannot draw for the life of me. *sobs*

    xoxo Morning

IT'S EXCITING THO.

Yes you should totally try writing in the early mornings! They are super therapeutic. *nod nod* PINTEREST. I see all these awesome artists' renderings of their characters and I'm just over here in a puddle of sadness because I WANNA DRAW MY CHARACTERS. BUT I CAN'T. :') ah well, there's Pinterest to redeem me. xD Thank you for reading, Morning!!

  18. WAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
not sure what that's supposed to mean but i guess just how much i loved this post can be summed up in wahhhhh. idk how that works.

AHHHHHH HISTORICAL FICTION IS THE LEGIT BEST. Like some of my favorite books are historical fiction but THE PROBLEM comes when I try to write historical fiction and I'm just like wow. They totally had Chinese takeout in the 1500s. TOTALLY.

EEEEP I WANT TO READ YOUR SHORT STORY!! CAN'T WAIT BECAUSE YOUR WRITING IS SO AWESOME AND SASSY AND I LOVE IT.

Okay so since I gave up Pinterest (HOW AM I COPING? A VERY GOOD QUESTION. I HAVE NO ANSWER.) I actually haven't missed it as much in the writing process??!!?? Like, I don't know. Before I quit it I had started like story WIP boards (lol I actually think I had made one and hadn't pinned anything on it lolol it's probably still there MUAHAHAHAHA) and I thought they were pretty cool but I never really got into them a lot so I guess that probably helps. But like the first week after I gave it up (sorry this is going to turn into a rant on this former pinterest-addict is recovering.) I was just like ALRIGHT LET'S GO AND FIND AN INSPIRING PICTURE TO USE FOR A STORY STARTED WHOOPS LOL NO I CAN'T *breaks down*

But dude I remember your Pinterest and all your character boards and they were pretty freaking great. PORT ORANGE SOUNDS LIKE SUCH AN INCREDIBLE BOOK LIKE I WANT TO READ ITTTTTTTT.
And yeah contemporary is probably my favorite genre (BUT IDK I REALLY LIKE HISTORICAL FICTION I REALLY DO.)

BUT ANYWAYS THANK YOU FOR TAGGING ME WHENEVER I SEE THAT I WAS TAGGED I'M ALWAYS SHOCKED AND SURPRISED AND SO HAPPY AND SMILING AND HAPPY AND YEAH. I don't usually do tags, but I just might have to do this one because 1) WRITING, BRO. Also my blog's name is Autumn's Readings & WRITINGS and I never post about writing. Like literally never. That should probably not be like that. AND 2) THIS LOOOKS LIKE FUN.

They totally had Chinese takeout in the 1500s. TOTALLY." << AHHAHA OMG CRACKING UP AT THIS. It's so true though! THE RESEARCH THAT GOES INTO EVERY. SINGLE. LINE. IT IS NOTHING IF NOT DAUNTING. O_O gah.

*screams excitedly* OH GOSHIES I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU TO READ MY SHORT STORY!! eeeeep. really like omg. so stoked. and nervous. and stoked. xD DUDE I LITERALLY DON'T KNOW HOW YOU ARE SURVIVING WITHOUT PINTEREST. LIKE...YOU ARE MY HERO OK. (but seriously would you like me to come over and make you waffles? tea? CONSOLE YOU WITH COMFORTING WORDS??? because i would be wilting without Pinterest omg.) But yeah I mean it's whatever works best for the writer! I tried to get my sister into using Pinterest for story inspiration and she just never really got much into it. So I try to go by the policy of "the writer should do whatever works best for them" although sometimes I'm a selfish little watermelon brain and I think Pinterest is the best thing ever for everyone ever amen. XD

EEEEEPAFKJSADALSDSA HONESTLY I'M SO STOKED FOR Y'ALL TO READ PORT ORANGE. :'''') IT BRINGS ME SUCH JOY GUYS IT REALLY DOES THANK YOU. *dries tears and hugs everyone* but same omg. contemporary will always hold a special place in my heart. <33333 EEEP YES YOU SHOULD DO THIS TAG BECAUSE I WOULD LOVE TO READ YOUR ANSWERS. And yes you're exactly right it goes with your fabulous blog's theme. ;) LOVE YOU BRO AND THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR READING. YOU'RE A SAINT.

  20. I love the way you write, and I'm pretty sure I've told you that before but it can't hurt to say it again.
Also, you are not only in being confused about time's flight. 'Cause, like, wasn't it the beginning of twenty sixteen just...yesterday?

  21. I V MUCH ENJOYED THIS POST. (don't know why I'm saying that in cap locks, I barely even know you. BUT THIS IS THE INTERNET, ALL THE CAP LOCKS ARE APPROPRIATE. ... Right?)

Anyway, it made me lol, and the Downton Abbey gifs were beautiful (and fuelling my burning desire to rewatch. Y'know). I am v interested that you like to write at the dining room table. I hate writing in a shared room in the house, because, like, a family member might come in -- ew, gross! -- and I'd have to hiss at them like a vehement cat. I prefer to say in a Russian accent "I VANT TO BE ALOOONE" and lock myself in my room (metaphorically, my room doesn't have a lock) before entering the writing cave. Alternately a coffee shop or just sitting on the street, because whilst I have problems writing around my fam I have no problems writing around hundreds of members of the general public?? Yup, it does all make sense ......

kind words are like raindrops on the desert. they make me bloom with happiness, as absolutely cliche and cheesy as that sounds. even if it's just a simple alt+3 i will heart you for it. so, go ahead! MAKE MY DAY. literally.
