Real Life Saturday (Episode 11)

MY FEET HURT. Seriously guys, standing in a drafty gymnasium for twelve hours a day does nothing good for the feet -- especially after hyperextending one of them while doing some kind of plyometric workout. (Ouch.) In case you're wondering why on earth a small teenage watermelon like me would be standing in a college gym for twelve hours, I'm working for my family's business this weekend at the flower show. (Also our website is pretty bc I took all the pictures mwahh.) So if you're anywhere near the Albany/Troy area, pop in and squeal, "CAKEPOP UNICORNS FOR THE WINNNN!!" I will telepathically know who you are. But anyway -- ENOUGH ABOUT MY FEET.

  • Waking up before the sun to drive. It's not necessarily fun to drag myself out of bed at 5:30 AM, but there's just something cool about being up before the dawn. The streets are vacant and foggy, orton-ish pastels.
  • Putting my feet up at night. Seriously guys, hotel beds are NICE. Like I don't even care about street noise and the news being on -- it's just me and my laptop and a box of chocolate granola and a fluffy bed. LIFE IS GOOD.
  • Joking with my dad all day. It's basically a morning/afternoon/evening of #thestruggleisreal. The worst thing is when someone decides to have a family reunion right in front of our booth. (Helpful hint: they’re afraid of loud noises. Repetitiously smacking things loudly can sometimes ward them off.)

Stillness and time. Preferably something my dad said to me yesterday – that he can trick his brain into thinking that there really isn’t any passage of time during the show days, and it’s just right now. And golly gosh darn, I WANT TO LIVE IN THE NOW. I want to trick my brain into always being like that – because imagine how much more we could enjoy life.

  •  That everything was okay.
  • I didn’t have to keep telling myself that.
  • Cake was for breakfast tomorrow and I didn’t have to use my feet.

  • BUSY. Jk, jk… NO NOT KIDDING.
  • Prepping for paradise. FKJDSFLKSCNSVKFNGNSKNVJ;D (hey look I literally just accidentally made a winking grinning smilie face. This is the universe responding to my happiness, clearly.)
  • A playlist for March.  Because we’re already like MID-MONTH. Howwww did that happen can somebody please explain?? Cool. Tell me in the comments and make it a good one. ;)

What have you been up to this week? Do you wish you could live in the now just a little bit more? IS EVERYTHING GOING TO BE OKAY?? (I need some support, bros.) What’s happening next week? What are you excited for? And am I Wonder Woman or what for getting this post up ACTUALLY ON SATURDAY. Pfft I deserve so many waffles it’s crazy.

love,
abbiee

  4. OH MY WORD SO THAT'S WHY KATIE WORKED IN THE HANGING WATER GARDEN THINGY AT THE PHILLY FLOWER SHOW. THE LIGHT DAWNS.
that's literally the COOLEST thing ever though :) and GAHHHH the pictures are so gorgeousssss <3
oooohhhh, so like you're working at the flower thingy. THAT MAKES SENSE NOW. so like Katie worked at the flower show in PA, and you're working in another one or something. EEEEKK I'M LIKE SO EXCITED. I'm not even quite sure why though. that's just how I go sometimes.

also, driving early in the morning and watching the sun come up is definitely hands up the best thing ever. that's literally my schedule every week, and so while I typically don't enjoy getting up at 5:30 and dragging myself out of bed, once I get out on the road, wow. it's just the best <33

*shoves all the waffles at you*

    1. EEEEEP YES THAT'S RIGHT DEAR. I know, it can get super confusing sometimes. XD We go to flower shows, arts/crafts shows, etc. (It's definitely not my scene, but I like to help my family out.) EEEEK I'M EXCITED TOO FOR SOME REASON. Maybe next time we'll encounter each other! hehe ;)

YAAAS DRIVING + SUNRISE = PERFECTION. That's so cool that it's on your schedule every week. literally GOALS right there. x) *manges all the waffles* Thank you for reading, Autumn!! ♥

  5. YOU ARE WONDER WOMAN MOST DEFINITELY PROBABLY MAYBE. (How's that for epic confirmation?) And omg I understand the standing-for-hours-behind-a-stall thingy. 0-0 I used to do some markets for my etsy origami business? But then a) ugh to going out, and b) ugh to not selling stuff. heh. Etsy can do it all for me and I shall just curl up in my comfy room with my comfy audiobooks. AHEM. I know that's completely different to what you're doing, but what can I say? I'M RANDOM. #randomandnotashamed

Also cake for breakfast is the stuff of dreams and glory. I WANT SOME.

Oh but getting up before the sun is my favourite thing of ever. We're about to switch off Daylight savings, so it's like pitch black at 6am (which is when I get up) which makes my morning run kind of creepy/dark BUT YEAH. It'S NICE TO SEE THE SUN RISE.

    1. EEEEP THANK YOU FOR THE CONFIRMATION DEAR. xD ahahaha. Nooo, that's not very different! I know exactly how you feel ugh. If it was up to me to sell stuff? well let's just say we would be doing something else to make money. XD thankfully my dad does all the talking and I'm basically his assistant. THE BEST ASSISTANT EVER, that is. ;) But yes yes yes -- Etsy sounds way more comfy. hehe.

#CAKEFORBREAKFAST -- let's just vote this thing in already. Where there is cake, one does not need anything else. (Wow the more I type out this reply the more I realize that my brain is so fried I cannot even structure a proper sentence but whatev XD) DUUUDE YOU'RE HARDCORE, GETTING UP AT 6 IN THE DARK TO RUN. *props and chocolate* seriously, that is epic. x) MEEEP THANK YOU FOR READING. ♥

  8. EVERY THING IS GOING TO BE OKAY. I have to tell myself that every single day ever, so you're not alone. I WILL FEED YOU WAFFLES.

I relate so much to the whole 'being up at dawn is cool, but being in bed is so...#aesthetic' feeling hahahaha. I'm the furthest thing from a morning person, but i LOVE FOG SO MUCH.

  9. How do those pictures make me feel like I too went to the flower show all day and learned how to live in the now? They are strangely alluring and comforting.

Anyway, living in the now makes my heart wonder as well. So often I get so caught up in planning for tomorrow that I forget about the blessings and joys of today. Yes, we need to plan, but I can't live in to-doism (a word I made up for occasions such as this). I struggle with this SO much. I just want to make everything be okay, when I realize that God offers me something better than okay.

For we can try our hardest just to be "okay," when God hands us abundant provisions of grace if only we pause to take it and live it. Oh, this is something I'm so passionate about, if you can't tell!

Thank you for letting us into your life a little bit this weekend!

kind words are like raindrops on the desert. they make me bloom with happiness, as absolutely cliche and cheesy as that sounds. even if it's just a simple alt+3 i will heart you for it. so, go ahead! MAKE MY DAY. literally.
