the giant newburyport photo dump

We do a lot of stuff when we're on vacation. We're not just layers-on-the-beach, we're adventurers. We like to roam around and explore new things and I like to take lots and lots of pictures and get left behind in the process. (Haha, no. They've been getting better about that since I publicized the cruelty.)

Believe it or not, all the photos in this post were taken in one day. I know, kind of crazy – but that’s how this awesome family rolls. BECAUSE WE’RE CRAZY ADVENTURERS, WHAT CAN I SAY.

The morning was wandering around an adorable little bookstore with my sister, then finding a cute little café where the most incredible whoopie pies (ever) were consumed. In the morning, yes. Why do you ask?

Side note: I think I’ve fallen madly in love with the architecture of Newburyport. Like…what even. Is this a dreamland town or what? It has all the diversity of a fairly-large town/city, but all the historical awesomeness of colonial buildings and what-not. </learned speech on architecture>

WHO’S THE HIPPIE GIRL IN THE MIRROR??? Oh nevermind it’s me. I was going to say, I want her clothes.

Out of place? Sort of. What can I say? We went into a running store and there was this giant wall of neon shoes and when stuff like that happens you can’t just not take a picture. I mean, come on.

A mailbox. In case you were confused. (Sorry, I probably should’ve just let you wonder and lose sleep over it, shouldn’t I? Yep. Too late.)

THESE. Were the coolest things ever. Old novels cut out to be letters of the alphabet. Like, whaaaat? How come I didn’t think of this? So creative.

Next we headed off to the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, which is on Plum Island (GORGEOUS PLACE, could you not tell?) Literally, the colors in the sunlight were enough to make me cry. So pretty. I did cry. I’m crying now, just looking at the pictures. (Just kidding. But there was sunlight.)

DSLR selfies, bro. Nothing like ‘em.

“Do a leaf face picture,” she said.
“Okay,” I said.

And then we went to the beach. Because we felt like we hadn’t done anything all day.

And then I pretended that I was Ansel Adams.

And then Katie found a hermit crab.

“Take a picture of me with the caution cone,” she said.
“Okay,” I said.

And that night there was a full moon. And I wished that I’d brought a tripod with me to take slow exposure shots while everyone groaned and rolled their eyes in the car. See, you thought I was going to get through ONE vacation post without saying that I wished I’d brought something that I didn’t. Wow, that was really bad grammar. But my fried is brain and you all know what I mean.

love,
abbiee

  1. WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

So first off, I hope it's not terrible that I save some of your pictures to my inspiration folder. I want to save all of them, but I figure that would be kind of evil. But I promise I'll never claim they're mine. :-D I just want to look at them for hours and then write books.

Second off, your sister CRACKS ME UP. And so do you. You two are fathomlessly awesome. Unfathomably? Yes, I guess that's the correct word.

Third off, if I buy a super expensive camera will it make up for my lack of skills????? ;-P

Fourth off, I like your smile. It makes me all the happies.

Fifth off, East Coast architecture is like.... breathtaking. Walking through downtown New Hampshire was like...immediate story material.

    Sixth off, I love you.
