real life saturdays (episode 01)

It's time for some real life, folks!! I feel like I don't talk about my life a lot -- I'm sure it has a lot to do with the fact that my mind is always wandering through a fictional world, somewhere -- and I want to change that. Real life is fun and exciting and brilliant! And I want to talk a little bit about mine. Totally selfish? You could say that. Buuut, I also love talking about your life. SO I'M GOING TO DEMAND THAT YOU CARRY ON THE CONVERSATION IN THE COMMENTS. Ahem. Yes. I'm going to. Just you wait and see.

If I knew how to do linkups, I would probably make this one. But alas, I do not know how. So instead I'm just going to blab about myself and then you can blab about yourself and we can all be happy. OKAY? Okay. Also, I'm probably not going to do this every Saturday because ew, what a drag. But who knows what the future may bring.

  • a Pinterest account (yikes!) Literally, I never thought I'd actually be doing this...but I'm doing this. Pinterest is just too good for visualizing book plots and characters and gAH. It's just so cool. So fun. So addictive. ARRRRGGH. It's purely for my own amusement, but if you're interested in following me and gawking at all the shinyness (my books are very shiny) then check it out here: www.pinterest.com/quantumpiranha.
  • quite a few messes, i'm sure.
  • these lovely buckwheat pancakes.
  • lots of ideas for a sci-fi! What is my life even? I don't know, I really don't. But yes -- sometime in the far far future (no pun intended) I'm going to write a sci-fi book. As for right now, I can't stop thinking about it! Argh. I guess that's what the aforementioned Pinterest account will be good for.

I've been meditating a lot on gratitude, this week. That's kind of an ambiguous thing, so let me narrow it down a little bit: being grateful for the place I live. I think beauty often passes us by and we don't fully appreciate it, especially if we look at it every day. I've been so blessed to call this wonderful place home, and I need to start noticing just how beautiful it really is. It's so easy to find fault with something, but it takes an extra step of effort to find all the good in something. Keep digging -- you haven't found all the gems yet. ;)

  • Read you guys' blogs! Seriously, I've been SO BAD ABOUT THAT. I need to catch up.
  • Do more yoga. I would love to get to a place where I can practice at least once a day.
  • Actually get my money's worth of SoundCloud usage. Seriously, I think the last time I posted something on there was like...over a year ago? I don't even know. But it's bad, whatever it is. I need to use it more often. I need to make more lousy remixes!!! Because they're fun, I don't care how bad I am at it.

  • Researching and learning about recording software. This will be key when it comes to making some covers for y'all! I know, I could just do them on my iPad...but I really don't want to. I'm a bit of a perfectionist.
  • Staying up late with my sister and acting like hoodlums. Eeeep, so excited for her to come home!
  • Wasting time on Pinterest. I don't want it to happen, but it's going to happen. I can feel it.
  • Making raw chocolate (YES) and consuming a ridiculous amount of honeycrisp apples.

Now it's YOUR turn to blab about real life! What did YOU make this week? What are YOU meditating on? What do YOU want to do more of? What will next week look like for YOU? AND DO YOU HAVE PINTEREST? BECAUSE I NEED SOME BOARDS TO STALK.

love,
abbiee

  1. I really enjoyed reading about your week! I can relate to you in feeling kinda strange about sharing MY life with others as opposed to the lives of fictional characters! I do think that stories are a great way for people to connect. But underneath that surface layer of shared fandoms, there are real people with stories of their own to tell. It was nice to hear a bit of yours :).

    What I Made This Week
I drew this picture of Eowyn and Faramir (not sure if you know who they are but oh well). I really like how Wynnie turned out, but Faramir, eh, not so much. So that was 50% a good thing.

    What I'm Meditating On
God is good. He meets you right where you are and blesses you. I'm just so amazed by His mercy and goodness.

What I Want To Do More Of
DANCING. I want to get better at it. It'd be nice if I could get the waltz down really well for starters.

What Next Week Will Look Like For You
Let's see. I get to go to the florist with my friend to help shop for flowers for her wedding, so that's nice. I get to tell my drama students which parts they got in the skits we are doing, which is always primarily a heart-wrenching experience for me. "I'M SORRY, GUYS, BUT YOU CAN'T ALL BE THE WHITE RABBIT. SOMEBODY HAS TO PLAY THE DORMOUSE." I'll be singing in a duet at choir practice; I'm so excited! The guy I'm singing with is a drama buff and really hammy in a good way, and the song is very showy, so it's going to be great XD.

I don't have a Pintrest board. AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT.

Have a lovely week! Enjoy acting like a hooligan with your sister!

I actually don't know who Eowyn and Faramir are, but I know that feeling of satisfaction when a drawing comes out well! That's so cool. "God is good. He meets you right where you are and blesses you." < SO TRUE. This is a beautiful thing to meditate on. ♥ Next week looks awesome for you! Singing duets and casting skits sounds pretty epic! Gah, yes -- singing with someone else is just the bessst isn't it. I WILL ENJOY ACTING LIKE A HOOLIGAN THANK YOU. xD haha. Thanks for reading, Emily!

  2. I LOVE THIS POST SO MUCH!!!!!!!!! :D It's always kind of weird-feeling to share about actual life, but I'm working doing more of that on my blog.

This week....school. Lots of school. I didn't really MAKE anything. Well, I'm sure I made lots of mistakes. But that's not a good thing. Oh! I made dinner! I was kind of proud of that. Meditating on..being grateful, in the good and bad, and trying to enjoy life in general. Doing more of- reading! I really want to read more. And next week will just be a whirlwind of school, rehearsals, etc.

I'm not exactly sure why I typed all of that out, it's horribly boring. Sorry my life isn't more exciting;)

I hope that your week is absolutely wonderful!
    xoxo

  3. What I Made This Week
I just baked a two tiered vanilla cake with chocolate chips and strawberry pieces plus a chocolate buttercream frosting and strawberry filling.

    What I'm Meditating On
Life. I read this book called The book of Broken Hearts and it got me thinking. And crying.

What I Want To Do More Of
    Homework. Unfortunately.

What Next Week Will Look Like For You
I have a gazillion hours of dance, a million tests and projects but on the bright side, tomorrow my family's going to the pumpkin patch.

    Lovely photos<3

  5. Seoooooooooooo I love this! I totally want you to blab about your life because frankly? That's actually what I want to read at least 75% of the time on blogs. BECAUSE I LOVE YOU AND I WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOUR LIFE LOOKS LIKE.

Does that sound creepy-stalkerish? I don't mean it that way. XD

    MOVING ON.

    What I Made This Week:

Um, well, I don't generally make stuff because I am an official crafty....thing....fail-er. XD Buuuut I have taken to writing out Bible verses that really stick out to me with colors on cool paper so I can put them on my wall. So I guess that's making something. OH and I made it up a pretty crazy 13er! :-D

    What I'm Meditating On:
Just read a book called Sacred Singleness by Leslie Ludy, so I've been thinking a lot about that.... also how the Lord is our portion and we desire nothing beyond that. And how much I want Him to come back. Just sayin'.

What I Want to Do More Of:
MUSIC. Poor violin and cello sat around most of the week. Also, art stuff. Because I like to do dumb doodles. They make me happy. So I want to do it more. And blogging...heh... XD And writing. And eating healthy (squee). And doing my Chinese lessons without wanting to throw my notes across the room.

What Next Week Will Look Like For Me:
Well, church, then I have a doctor's appointment on Monday. And then I am going to *sob* rearrange the room because my sister moved out *CRYING* and I will hopefully get lots of writing and music and stuff done.

YAY, I'm so glad you like posts like this!! I was wondering if it was going to be a good idea or not...xD but yes, I love reading about real life on blogs, too! And no, it doesn't sound stalkerish at all. hehe. I'm glad you're interested in my life! xD
Ooh, those posters you made sound super cool! Hmm, that book sounds really interesting. And waa, yes, my little piano has been kind of lonely this week too. >.< "And doing my Chinese lessons without wanting to throw my notes across the room." < Haha, oh man. Oh no, a doctor's appointment? I hope everything is okay, hun. ♥ And oh my gosh, so sad about your sister moving out! I can't imagine what that must be like. ;( *sends you all the internet hugs*

  7. This was a great post! I love reading about your real life, weird as that sounds. I'm currently working on a couple short stories for some friends, as well as preparing for NaNoWriMo and getting a head start on Christmas presents.
I'm also trying to enjoy this place that I live in, which is a challenge since there isn't much to see down here. But this weekend our little town had a Cattle Festival in the square, which is only a hop and a skip from my house, so I walked down and saw the parade and listened to the live music and filled up on good ol' festival foods. It was really fun.
I'm also on Pinterest, where I've wasted away too many hours. I think my username is emmadmarie.

okay: so, i went on a train trip this week!!!! and i made lots of writings in my journal (because train trips are long and slightly boring.) i meditated on the power of words, and actually on gratitude a little bit (WAAAT? kind words are like raindrops on the desert. they make me bloom with happiness, as absolutely cliche and cheesy as that sounds. even if it's just a simple alt+3 i will heart you for it. so, go ahead! MAKE MY DAY. literally.
