elimination

I've heard it said that you make things and then you fill the empty space with those things and that's something. Is it only something when it's something? Or is there something in the nothing? My fingers wouldn't be fingers without the spaces in between them. I wouldn't be alive if my lungs weren't filled with nothingness.

Is that moment the coffee cup and the table and the whispered goodmorning? Or is it the quietness in the conversation -- the pauses. The nothing. Stretching your arms is something. But it wouldn't be something if there wasn't all that space over your head. A kiss wouldn't be a kiss without the space between your lips. And that's something.

"We make a vessel from a lump of clay; It is the empty space within the vessel that makes it useful. We make doors and windows for a room; But it is these empty spaces that make the room livable. Thus, while the tangible has its advantages, It is the intangible that makes it useful." -- Tao Teh Ching, verse 11

Sometimes I find elimination hard. In life, in stories, in music, in prayers. But it feels so good when you actually do it. You know what I mean?

It's something that has actually never entered my thought stream and so....wow owowowowowowow. This makes me a little less scared about editing things now, you know. Hm. Thank you, Abbie. So fab.

kind words are like raindrops on the desert. they make me bloom with happiness, as absolutely cliche and cheesy as that sounds. even if it's just a simple alt+3 i will heart you for it. so, go ahead! MAKE MY DAY. literally.
