the lost photos of cincinnati

For my sixteenth birthday, me and my daddy went somewhere in a plane. I told him that I didn't care where it was we were going -- all I wanted was to fly somewhere. So we did. He had to take a trip to Kentucky, so I went with him. I got into a plane for the first time ever (which is kind of a big deal for me because I've always dreamed of being a pilot.) "Holy crap," I said, for real. Because takeoff is one of the most beautiful feelings in the world. Like falling in love. Only better. It was almost July and it was hot. My hair was long and mostly in braids and my bones were reaching for my skin. I was pale and trapped in mental clouds of self-consciousness, but now I was above the clouds and that made me forget the walls of my mind. The trip was like a great big draught of sweet water from the last sea -- sunshine and humidity and long, long walks in pinchy sandals and water and music and sweethearts' locks in the chain link on the purple people bridge and big, warm hands feeling good in mine because we're in a great big city and I've got nobody but you. Airports and subways and lots of stairs, then clouds and clouds and clouds. Getting off on the tarmac like a movie star. It was like an exhale through a smile.

love,

kind words are like raindrops on the desert. they make me bloom with happiness, as absolutely cliche and cheesy as that sounds. even if it's just a simple alt+3 i will heart you for it. so, go ahead! MAKE MY DAY. literally.
